The UMF College of Arts & Sciences offers a wide range of majors that’ll open the door to an almost limitless variety of careers or graduate studies opportunities. Our degree programs will prepare you for careers in business, medicine, science, government, law, industry, social science, the arts and countless other professions. They’ll also prepare you for graduate school, medical school and law school. (How do we know? These are things many of our Arts & Science graduates have gone on to do.)

Flexibility and Adaptability
Arts & Sciences prepare you to be broad-minded, flexible and adaptable. Sure, training for a specific career is important. After all, much of what you learn in college will quickly be put to use on the job. But in today’s global economy, flexibility and adaptability are more crucial than ever. We want to prepare you not only for your first career, but for your fifth, sixth, and seventh one too. Students with broad and varied academic experiences — like Arts & Science majors — can often shift direction more easily than those who focused exclusively on a very specific academic area.

Far and Wide
UMF Arts and Sciences majors have gone far and done well — from the boardroom and the courtroom to research labs and test sites in the field, from the performance stage to the editor’s desk, and to countless varied careers in between.
