The town of Farmington has a vibrant downtown area and strong local economy and many UMF students find part-time work at area businesses — many within walking distance from campus.

Farmington has a number of banks, retail and specialty stores and restaurants; a supermarket; hospital, and more. From large businesses (Hannaford Supermarket and Wal-Mart) to small (Liquid Sunshine, MG's Video and Java Joe's) there are usually many off-campus employment opportunities in the area.

And don't forget the seasonal job possibilities at the major ski resorts and smaller community ski areas in the region — frequently seeking to hire motivated UMF students for on-slope work or hospitality and office positions.
