Bachelor of Arts: Interdisciplinary Studies, concentration in arts administration

Technology and globalization have dramatically changed the arts world in the twenty-first century. The acts of creating and performing are deeply interlinked with media, marketing, and audience. Our Arts Administration program addresses these challenges through a contemporary education in the business of the arts.

The Art/Art History concentration opens a wide range of career possibilities in museums, community arts organizations, or art galleries. Graduates of this program would even be prepared to start their own arts or arts-related company or community program.

The Music concentration develops abilities in music and business, providing an integrated education preparing you for jobs in music management, production, promotion, journalism, and the countless other careers that are so vital to the music business.

In addition to the performance aspects of theater, the Theater concentration includes directing, theatrical history, stagecraft and scene design, lighting, and costume design. You will also learn about marketing and promotion, strategic management, accounting, consumer behavior, and more.

Note: Farmington's Arts Administration programs qualify for the New England Regional Program tuition discount - a discount of more than $4,500 per year. "I came in as a Theater major, but found I wanted to learn more about the business side of theater, so Arts Administration: Theater was a perfect blend of both worlds. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to run my own theater company."
